TREAT YO SELF : NARS VIRTUAL DOMINATION CHEEK PALETTE
15:20
I don't know if I have mentioned, but due to my car accident, and my stupid kidney infection, I wasn't able to go back to work for about 2 months. BTW, shoutout to my managers for not just firing my ass LOL.
But I recently started working again, and I finally got my first paycheque ! It's been a long time since I've gotten paid and I've been trying extra hard at work, so I've decided to buy myself a little gift :3
I BOUGHT THE NARS VIRTUAL DOMINATION CHEEK PALETTE.
I've been eyeing this limited edition baby down ever since it came out. I'm not usually the type to splurge on high end make up (drugstore all the way baby), but I couldn't resist with this one.
I'm just going to count it as my Christmas gift to myself. And as a little treat for being good and actually going to yoga, keeping up with school (mostly), and working more than before.
I'm not going to talk too much about the palette in this post, because I do plan to make a "heart it or hate it" video on this very soon. But I thought that I would at least give you guys some pictures and swatches of this beautiful creation.
Okay but first, before anything else, let's take a moment and just admire the packaging for a second.
It. Is. Gorgeous. I LOVE the extra layer of plastic that lays on top of the NARS title with the cool white design. It gives it this 3D feel to it, and it looks fantastic.
I am obsessed.
So this palette contains 1 highlighter, 3 blushes, and 1 bronzer. Sooooooooo beautiful ahhhhhh.
So from left to right, the 4 smaller products (and then the bronzer last) are called :
Miss Liberty (highlighter : peach beige with shimmer)
Deep Throat (Peach with Shimmer)
Sex Fantasy (Pale lavender pink)
Final Cut (Peach coral)
Laguna (brown with gold shimmer)
Here are the swatches. Laguna is the big one on top, and from left to right : Miss Liberty, Deep Throat, Sex Fantasy, and Final Cut.
Keep your eyes peeled for the Heart it or Hate it on this palette.
and not to mention I'm going to be using it in ALOT of my getting readys'.

REVIEW : MAC PEONY PETAL BLUSH
00:49
I think I've already talked about this blush once before, but I wanted to give you guys a swatch and review of the my very first MAC blush ; Peony Petal.
I originally went into the MAC store to purchase their Melba blush. I've been eyeing it down for quite some time now, and it is pretty much the prettiest soft peach colour ever.
However, the day I went in, they were actually fresh out of the Melba blush in pan form, so I decided I would pick up a different blush for the time being, just because I didn't want to leave the store without a buying something. It was just one of those days.
Peony Petal caught my eye because it looked very bright and daring in the pan, but when swatched, was actually a very soft barbie doll pink blush. One of the MAC girls applied it with a blush brush on the back of my hand and showed me how different it could look when lightly applied and heavily applied. It was definitely not what I went into MAC to buy, AT ALL, but my justification was "why not buy something that's different from all the other blushes you own."
Not a bad justification at all, but the only problem with that, is that I don't reach for this blush very often.
Here's it swatched on the back of my hand. I really tried to swatch it nice and hard for this photo, so you could see it's true colour on my skin. But usually when I use it, I don't ever apply it so heavy-handedly, so it actually comes off as a soft rosey cool toned pink.
I think this blush would look even better on someone with fairer skin than me, but even on my very yellow skintone, it gives off a nice soft glow.
This blush isn't as creamy or as pigmented as some of the other blushes I own, but that's actually fine for the blush that it is. Because it is such a bright colour, it makes it a lot more wearable due to the fact that it's not super pigmented. I would have to be a lot more careful applying it if it was. It is a little on the chalky side, but it isn't something that is hard to deal with, and you can tell that it is still a very high quality blush.
I definitely don't regret buying this blush, but I don't reach for it as often as I would like, when spending 20 something dollars on a blush.
It works well as a spring time / summer time blush because of it's bright dolly pink nature. Even in the winter, applied lightly to the tops of the apples of your cheek, it could give a very nice "I was just outside in the snow" look.

GRWM : WET N' WILD PETAL PUSHER PALETTE
01:45
So here's another GRWM for y'all. Please ignore the acne on my face in the cover photo. I've been breaking out terribly lately, and I didn't want to pile make up on top of it because , well.. I want it to heal and breathe.
If you have any good acne remedies for dry skin , PLEASE let me know ASAP because I am in desperately need of any and all help.
I've never had a problem with acne before, even going through puberty, so this really is becoming the death of me ):
Anyways, if you're interested in how I got this simple purple smokey eye, you can watch it here. (:

NIGHT TIME "GET UN-READY WITH ME" ROUTINE
01:45
I've done one of these videos before, the "get un-ready with me", but I thought I would do an updated one, since my skincare routine has changed quite a bit in the past little while.
As you can probably tell from the picture (I'm wearing foundation btw) I have been breaking out lately, and my skin has been a mess, so a lot of the products I use in this video are aimed towards curing my acne but also work for my dry skin.
This is honestly the first time I've struggled with acne in my life, so I don't know if this system (the Vichy Normaderm) really works or not. But I've heard great things about Vichy skincare, and so I thought I would give it a try.
Anything to get rid of the shit on my face. :'(
If you're curious on my night time skincare routine,
you can watch it here.

49th PARALLEL
14:11
Have you ever walked by the corner of W4th ave and Yew St., and seen this adorable cafe that's always busy and all decked out in the prettiest turquoise colour?
That would be the 49th Parallel cafe.
During the day time, the huge windows all along two of their walls give the cafe a gorgeous, bright, airy feel. Every time I've encountered it during the day time, it was very busy.
I also came here once when it was night time, and it was quite the opposite. A lot less busy, it gave off a nice cozy feel to it.
The first time I had one of their drinks was actually when my friend bought me a cup of their Venezuelan Coffee to go.
It. Was. Delicious.
To be fair though, I don't think I can give the best advice on coffee just because I'm not really a true coffee drinker.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE coffee. I need at least a cup everyday.
But I'm one of those coffee drinkers that takes their coffee with lots of cream and even more sugar. Now you may say that people just take their coffee differently, but to me, I feel like the true coffee lovers are the ones that take it black.
So whether you want to take my word for it, it's totally up to you. But holy mother of god, it's soooo good.
But be warned, it is quite a sweet coffee beverage.
The description on the menu says something along the lines of "carmelized milk reduction, espresso, textured milk"

THE START OF MY YOGA JOURNEY
00:57
Something else that I've decided to start recently is Yoga ! My mom has been doing yoga for years, and it seems to benefit her in so many ways. Not only has it kept her body in pristine conditions, she says it makes her more flexible, feel happier, and just generally be healthier.
So after watching her go to Yoga classes daily, and also following the occasional youtube video when I'm feeling stressed, I've decided to join a class.
I've done hot yoga once with my mom (she does it at Bikrams) and it was... not fun. I honestly didn't really enjoy it. I blame it on my claustrophobia. The room was filled with sweaty bodies and the heat cranked up so high, I felt like I couldn't breathe. SOOOO after that experience, it kind of turned me off the idea for a while.
And then recently, out of sheer boredom, a friend and I decided to do some yoga for fun. I'm not going to lie, we smoked up a little beforehand, so it made it VERY fun and relaxing, but even after that day, everytime I've done yoga myself at home, I've felt significantly happier and more relaxed afterwards.
After some research, I found this Yoga studio a couple of blocks away from my house. They've got this introductory membership for newbies that seems pretty appealing.
The deal is you pay 99 dollars for unlimited yoga for 9 weeks as a trial. Which seems like a pretty good deal if you ask me, since my mother pays 120 a month for Bikrams.
And then after your 9 week trial period is up, you can choose between two different unlimited memberships or 3 different session pass bundles.
If I decide I like this whole yoga thing after my trial period , I will probably continue with one of the unlimited monthly bundles since they seem to be the best deal. If you want to check out their prices, the link is http://sh.st/uBb22
My first day :
I decided to try out the 9:30 am Hatha yoga class for my first day. Early, I know, but I wanted to start getting in the habit of getting up early (my body automatically wakes me up pretty early, but I just stay in bed for another hour or so) and getting my day started.
So I got up bright and early and headed to the yoga studio. It wasn't quite what I expected. When I went to Bikram's with my mom, it was quite a big facility. I walked in and there was the teacher sitting at a desk by the door. So I talked to her for a bit, got signed up, paid for my trial period, and got a little tour. It was pretty much one big room with big open windows, and a very open floor plan. There were two small "rooms". One was where all the equipment was kept, and the other was where the refreshments, tea, snacks and water was kept.
For equipment they provide you with mats and bolsters and bricks and straps and whatever else you could need. Which I thought was a very nice touch considering usually you'd have to pay a little extra to rent the equipment.
Because it was my first time, I felt a little out of place. Everyone in the class seemed quite a bit older than me. It's not like I haven't done yoga before, but I usually do it in the comfort of my own home. So being around all these adults, I was a little intimidated.
I think I was nervous for no reason though because it's yoga for crying out loud. It's the most chill, meditative, relaxing, worry-less exercise. As soon as the class started, I just focused all my attention to the directions that the teacher was giving me, and just kind of forgot about everything else.
Overall I had a pretty good first day I would say. My body was definitely not used to being up and going at it that early, and I had to go home and take a little nap after my very relaxing class. But I like that they have classes so early, because being finished with yoga at 10:30 really helps with starting the day positively, and also still gives you loads of time to do whatever you need to do for the rest of the day.
I'm excited to go again and start making a habit out of it.
For me personally, I'm going to keep sticking with the 9 / 9:30 classes or the 10 / 10:30 classes. I love that it leaves me with so much time to other stuff, but I still want to give myself sleep in time every once in a while :3
So on those days that I need a little extra TLC in the beauty sleep department, I'll attend the 10 or 10:30 am classes, and start the rest of my day at 11:45.
overall, I mean it's definitely not this huge company like YYoga or Bikrams, but I really enjoyed my experience at Open Door Yoga. It's really quite a quaint little studio but it gives off that nice "family" vibe. I feel like I would've been even more intimidated going to YYoga due to the sheer popularity and size of their studios. So I'm glad I'm starting my yoga journey here.
I'll definitely keep you guys updated on how I do.
If you're in vancouver and thinking about starting yoga, check out Open Door Yoga's website here http://sh.st/u2xaQ

THE GIRL BIBLE : WHY MEN LOVE BITCHES.
14:48
I was introduced to the Girl Bible by this woman that I really looked up to in high school. She was actually the representative for a program called SACY. What this program did was come to high schools and offer once a week lunch time classes that educated teens about drugs (this session usually included free pizza).
This wasn't the conventional "don't do drugs kids!" lesson that you'd assume it was.
SACY took pride in understanding that, no matter how hard adults tried to hammer into our heads that "drugs are bad", we were still probably going to do them anyways.
So what they did instead, was educate teens about the wide spectrum of drug effects, how to take care of someone on drugs, and safe drug use. They gave us so much information about the drugs, that honestly.. sometimes it was enough for us to decide for ourselves that "NAAAAH , I ain't gunna try that EVER."
Anyways, this great mentor's name was MJ, and she was just about the coolest adult I've ever met.
To be fair, she was not even thaaat old. When I say adult, I meant she was probably late 20s? early 30s? but to a 17 year old, that's pretty old.
We got close because I had helped her round up the troops, and spread the word about this lunch time class ( that really, wasn't even a class. we just had a blast talking about drugs and eating pizza ).
Sometimes we would even go out for ice cream, or coffee after school just because. I loved talking to her, and she loved giving me guidance.
One of the greatest things she's guided me to was this book.
"Why Men Love Bitches"
This isn't your typical "how to get a guy in 60 days" book. I mean, yes the book is teaching you strategies and ways that helps acquire your guy, BUT that's just the surface. What it really is teaching you, more than anything, is to be an independent and confident woman, to love yourself, and realize your worth as an amazing woman.... which just so happens to also be what gets you the guy.
The title may be daunting and confusing at first... "Why would I want to be a bitch?"
But read the book and you'll understand. The label "bitch" is used not in it's conventional meaning, but to represent a woman who is strong, and doesn't NEED a man to fulfil her every need. Because HELL, she can do it herself.
This book teaches you to hold up your own in a relationship. Not just be his doormat, or fuck buddy.
I've read this book over and over again. And to this day, I still pick it up every once in a while and give it a go. Especially when I am feeling down on my self, this book is the perfect "pick me up". Even just flipping to the back of the book and just reading the list of "attraction principles" that are explained throughout the book helps greatly.
If you are a girl who's feeling down in the dumps lately, or if you are trying SO SO hard yet for some reason, you just can't get the guy.. give this book a go.
I seriously recommend to ALL girls. not just the ones I described just now. Even if you're the most sophisticated, confident, successful, and independent girl EVER. Just read it anyways to remind yourself how GREAT you are. Everyone needs it every once in a while.
I love marking mine up with highlighters sticky notes. |
If you've read it, or you go and pick it up, let me know in the comments ! I'd love to hear what you guys think about my girl bible.

LIFE HACKS : USING YOUR TIME WISELY
00:43
So I'm going through this "self-healing, self-improvement, reinvention" bender right now. I think it's because I've just been so down in the dumps recently because of my accident and all these other personal health issues, that I really felt like I need a change in my life. Mostly just in my attitude and motivation, I've really felt like I want to just... change.
It's not the first time I've felt this need, but this time I REALLY want to, not just take action, but stick with it. I'm naturally such a lazy person that I feel like it's just so easy to fall back into old habits and just be depressed and stay at home all the time and do nothing. So I really want to change that about myself. and just become... better.
One little thing that I've been doing lately, that I consider a little life hack is watching Ted Talks while I'm doing other things. I have a habit of just keeping something playing while I'm doing my make up, eating, cleaning... or whatever. Usually, that thing is a TV show like Gossip Girl, or Vampire Diaries. Which there's nothing wrong about that. I still love watching these shows. Or in Gossip Girl's case, rewatching.. for the 5th time. But how influential is watching Serena Van Der Woodsen gush over boys, or Blair Waldorf scheme and plot. It's great, and it gives me a lot of joy, BUUUUUUT probably not the best use of my time.
So, taking a page from my ex-boyfriend's life handbook, I decided to play Ted Talks instead.
I actually stumbled upon this idea by finishing all the things I wanted to watch on netflix. So I was scrolling and scrolling, and after several unsuccessful minutes of looking for something that interested me, I came upon Ted Talks : Life Hacks.
I remember watching some Ted Talks episodes with my ex and finding them pretty interesting. SOOOO I started this Life Hacks series.
The first episode already caught my attention. The first episode was about "faking it til' you make it". Which generally is something I live by, especially in new work environments or interviews or networking events. Yes, being yourself is awesome and you should definitely do it... but sometimes you just need to fake it til' you make it.
I'm not saying to go about your day pretending to be someone completely different, or being two-faced. I'm just saying, when it's necessary to be confident, or brave, or social (and when you usually aren't any of those things) ... FAKE IT. It helps. It's helped me in many situations, and usually, when I do, the result is better than I even expected it to be.
Go and search up Ted Talks : Life Hacks on netflix. I swear it's worth your time. I got through several episodes while I was getting done up today for work. And straight up, I actually picked up a few tips here and there that were pretty damn valuable. I think you can even find this particular series of Ted Talks on youtube, incase you don't have access to netflix.
Try it out, if you don't like it, whatever. But it's working for me, so maybe it'll work for you too.
Until next time,
So I've decided to start doing some quote-of-the-days.
These are most likely going to be heavily influenced by my mood, how my day is going, or even just my general outlook on life.
Sometimes (hopefully most of the time) they're going to be inspirational and happy.
But let's be real, they're going to be sad and depressing sometimes too. Please don't hate me when I post the shitty ones.
Since this is the first, I'm going to start it off with a happy one. (Don't want to depress you guys from the get-go)
I will leave you with that as food for thought.

"For attractive lips, speak words of kindness. For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people. For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry. For beautiful hair, let a child run their fingers through it once a day. For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone. People more than things, have to be restored renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed. Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms. As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands. One for helping yourself, and the other for helping others." - Sam Levenson

So I thought I would do a little run down of my Autumn 2014, since I pretty was MIA the whole time. So if any of you have seen my previous posts, y'all would know I got into a car accident. All through out the past 2 months I've been dealing with a lot of other personal health issues as well so it was a pretty strange month.
Pretty much what I did all of this Autumn was one of two things.
1. Stay home and wallowed in my sadness and pain
2. Go out with my friends.
It felt like such a bipolar month because I was either dying at home and being completely depressed, or I was out stuffing my face or partying.
Now that Autumn is finally coming to an end, and Winter is starting to roll on in, here's a recap.
(I'm probably not gunna end up doing an October Favourites because.. well.. it's already the Middle of November. So this is pretty much my replacement for that .)
Girls night! We went to Basil's Pasta Bar in downtown which specializes in 8 dollar build your own pasta dishes ! With that kind of price range obviously I wasn't expecting Top-Grade Italian restaurante pasta but it was still pretty damn delicious. This picture was taken when we went to the movies afterwards to watch intersteller. I had a couple of free movies on my Scene card so I ended up treating them all to movies. Intersteller was AMAZING. If you haven't seen it already, you need to go watch it ASAP. It was an emotional rollercoaster ride.
1. I've been living off of the Peppermint Mochas from McDonalds. Peppermint Mochas are my favourite seasonal drink at starbucks too, but McDonalds is a little closer to my place, and it's a little cheaper (plus I always have free coffee cards) so I've just been drinking them non-stop. I had no idea they were actually topped off with little tiny candy canes until I was taking this photo! I usually just start downing the drink immediately. How adorable !
2. Went to Thierry with Cathleen one night and I got a little box of Macarons. I definitely still think Thierry makes the best Macarons that I've had so far. Their raspberry one is my favourite!
3. This was my pasta from Basil's Pasta Bar. I got the Penne Arrabiata. It was amazingly tasty and quite a large portion for the price!
4. Had Faubourg for lunch with my mom one afternoon. I got a lemon tart, a LondonFog and of course... more Macarons.
This was one of those nights that I went out with my friends. We ended up going to Venue that night and one of the guys from my student club at UBC was popping bottles at the VIP table. We weren't sure what our night was gunna turn out to be like but we actually ended up having a lot of fun.
Another night that we went out is for ManHei's birthday ! (she's the girl on the left beside me). We ended up going to Kobe for her birthday dinner and then to Joe's Apartment for clubbing.
More pictures with the birthday girl!
And then of course a classic Cora, Cat, and Angel picture.
1. Popping bottles at Venue. Thank the lord for wealthy friends :b
2. Sleeping in a bed of clouds :3 I actually love waking up to that giant bright window.
3. Brunch at Acme. this is there fritata styled eggs benedict. Very different , but still delicious.
4. I made dinner for my friends once. It was a thai styled yellow curry chicken on rice, and then of course a nice glass of Barefoot Moscato.
Yet another night out photo with my bae...
I told you I went out a lot...
1. One of my favourite things to eat... Malay Laksa Udon at Deer Garden
2. Loved how my hip tattoo looked with this classic red flannel
3. Sophie's ! their eggs benedict is SOOOO good. not to mention their hotsauce is fucking fantastic as well.
4. Home made spaghetti bolognese !
Home made chilli
Oh! and I also carved jack-o-laterns.. way to be festive right?
Thought I'd include a little OOTD in here as well.
Jacket : Garage
Jeans : Garage
Sweater : Thrift
Boots : Lucky Brand
Bag : China
Scarf : LV
K last little food collage !
1. Sushi Maru's Spicy Salmon Sashimi.... oh my god go and try it. it's the Sushi Maru on Oak and 49th.
2. Homemade breakfast. There was a while where I was waking up really early, and because all my classes were in the afternoon, it gave me time to actually get up and make a delicious and nutritious breakfast for myself !
3. Here's usually what I include in my breakfast
4. And then, of course, another eggs benedict. This one was from a little cafe down close to English Bay on Davie and Bidwell. I think it was called the red umbrella or something? anyways, it was pretty damn delicious as well. I don't know if you've realized yet but I LOVE breakfast. ESPECIALLY eggs benedict.... mmm yum.
Hope you guys had a great Autumn.
